เอกสารที่นำมาเป็นเอกสารจดหมายเหตุนี้ได้รับการคัดเลือกจากสำนักการวิจัยแห่งชาติให้นำมาเป็นเอกสารจดหมายเหตุ โดยนำ RG มาใช้เป็นรหัสแฟ้มเอกสารจดหมายเหตุที่สแกนแล้ว (ทั้งรูปแบบสำเนาเอกสารที่สแกนเก็บไว้ในซีดีรอมและเอกสารที่สแกนจากหนังสือ) ตามด้วยตัวเลข เช่น RG1 คือ เอกสารทั่วไป RG2 คือ มติ ครม. และมีบัญชีรายชื่อเอกสารที่จะส่งสแกนและบัญชีรายชื่อหนังสือที่จะส่งสแกนซึ่งจัดทำโดยสำนักงานการวิจัยแห่งชาติ
